Missed Call Text Back for Plumbers
Our missed-call text-back is still being built, so it's quote only for now. Nothing on this page is ready to use today. What follows is how we plan for it to work, so you can decide whether it's worth a conversation.
The problem plumbers already know
Plumbing calls rarely arrive at a good time. You're under a sink, in a crawl space, or holding a torch when the phone rings. Many of the people calling a plumber have water where it shouldn't be, so they may not wait long before trying the next number they find.
You can't stop working to answer, and voicemail doesn't always get a reply from the caller. That gap between a missed call and your callback is what Night Shift is being designed to help with.
What Night Shift is planned to do
When you can't pick up, the plan is for Night Shift to send the caller a short text from your business letting them know you saw the call and will get back to them. You would then reply when you're free.
The goal is simple: give the caller a reason to wait for you instead of moving on. We won't promise results, because outcomes depend on your market, your callers, and how quickly you follow up.
How it's planned to work
- A call comes in and you can't answer it.
- Night Shift will send the caller a short text from your business.
- You'll reply when you're off the job, and the conversation will pick up from there.
What the text could say (sample)
"Hi, this is [Your Business]. Sorry we missed your call. We're on a job right now and will get back to you soon. What can we help with? Reply STOP to opt out."
The message will be written for your business. A plumbing shop that handles emergency calls might want different wording than one that mostly books scheduled repairs and water heater installs.
Why texting is still being set up
Business texting to US phone numbers has registration requirements that carriers enforce. That registration is in progress for Night Shift. Until it's approved, we aren't offering texting to anyone, and we won't describe delivery times or guarantees. It's one of the reasons this is quote only right now.
Is a text-back a replacement for answering the phone?
No. Night Shift is not an answering service and there is no person picking up your line. It's meant to cover the moments you physically can't answer, so the caller hears from your business while you finish the job. You still make the callback, quote the work, and book it.
Questions worth asking yourself first
Before you request a quote, it can help to think through:
- When do you miss calls most? On jobs during the day, after hours, weekends, or all of the above.
- Who follows up? You, a family member, or an office person. The text should set expectations that match.
- What do callers usually need? Leaks, clogs, water heaters, or remodel estimates may each call for slightly different wording.
- How do you want callers to reply? A short description of the problem and an address area can make your callback faster to plan.
Bring those answers to the quote call and we'll go over what would fit your shop.
Who you'll talk to

Will it work with my current business number?
That's one of the things we'll go over in your quote, since it depends on how your phone service is set up.
